Water chemistry Providing a constant environment for your fish is the most important thing to remember about water chemistry. Pure water (H20) rarely, if ever, occurs naturally. Even if such water were readily available it still wouldn't be suitable for your fish and plants to live in. Different fish prefer different types of water, depending on where they originate from. Water chemistry is affected by minerals, salt and organic matter. The following pages attempt to explain each parameter and their affects on aquarium water.
